While EECU is a financial institution which is solely focused on meeting the personal financial needs of the ExxonMobil community, it is important to note that it is completely separate from ExxonMobil ownership or control.
The EECU board of directors, some of whom can be current ExxonMobil employees, has established protocols to ensure that the privacy of members is not compromised by directors or staff. In particular:
Board unaware of member’s identity
The EECU board is generally only involved in strategic matters, but in unusual circumstances it considers matters relating to an individual member. When this occurs it is always considered in terms of a member number, not their name. This ensures objectivity in the board’s decision making process and privacy for the member.
EECU staff unaware of confidential ExxonMobil developments
On occasions a board member may be aware of likely developments within ExxonMobil which relate to an EECU member. The board’s protocol prevents the passing of information about an individual member to the staff of the Credit Union.
